  • I miss you. (Please come back home soon)

Create Ambience

The first thing to do as you settle to write a love letter is to create a romantic ambience. Get yourself in the mood. Some soft music, peace and adequate light to write down the love letter is all you need to get started. If you are tired and had a bad day then avoid writing the love letter on that day. Maybe a weekend or when you are more relaxed is a good idea. You can’t end a love letter in a hurry. You can also place a picture of him or her next to your writing table to feel more connected to your lover.

Writing Accessories

Getting proper stationary is very important. Select some good quality paper in cream or white. Those pink papers are definitely out of style. One can also use a thick card stock, as it is strong and durable. Your lover will like to keep this love letter as a souvenir and it is best to select something that can endure the test of time. Use a flair pen in black or brown. Please avoid those blues, reds and green colored pens. You are not making a kid birthday card.

Opening Salutation

Most of us are used to a ready-made salutation like ‘dear xyz’. But when we are talking about how to write a love letter then it has to be something more than just the obvious. Use your lover’s first name with a romantic salutation like ‘dearest Jane’ or ‘darling Peter’. Also remember to date your love letter (month, day, year). This love letter will be treasured and each time it would be read it would take your sweetheart to that time of romantic feelings.

How to Begin Love Letters

As you start writing your love letter begin by stating your reason for writing. For example you can say, ‘I have been awake every night, trying to find just the right words to say what’s in my heart. But my love is too deep to put simply in a few words…” take your lover down the memory lane by reliving some of the romantic moments both of you shared together. And then go on to the body of the letter.

Body of the Letter

The main body of the letter should tell why you feel in love with him or her. Avoid being too casual or formal. A love letter should be respectful with a serious note to it. You don’t want your lover to be laughing as he reads along if you don’t intend to write a funny love letter. Add some romantic quotes and sayings to describe your emotions or describe the special characteristics of your lover. Open your heart and say what you want to say but don’t jump from one thought to the other. Be sincere and honest and very soon you will feel that how to write a love letter is not that big a mystery after all.

Be Expressive

Expressing your feelings is easier said than done. To help you out here are some romantic expressions that you can use in your romantic love letter.

In your valediction you can write, ‘forever yours’, ‘all your love’, ‘only yours’ etc. Add some petals or scent as you close the letter and finally you have mastered the art of writing a love letter. So how to write love letters… is not that difficult!!...
Can Romantic Letters Still Fit Into Our Daily Lives?
Today everything is modern, and modernism is far from romantic behavior. Modernism is technology, rush, freedom, and many things that cannot belong to the narrow patterns of the past, when people lived quietly, without being so easily in contact with each other, and the rhythm of their lives was totally different.

At that time the internet didn't exist and letters sent through regular mail were very common. Depending on how far someone was, they could delay an entire week to arrive... Now we send instant messages through email, which are always very simple.
Romantic letters are not only letters telling your partner what you are doing when you are far from them. They have a symbolic meaning. They are letters you keep and remember forever, because they mark important moments during your relationship.

They are letters where the person you love confesses you their deeper feelings, telling you how much they think of you all the time. Letters describing how much they miss you, how much they love you, how much they wish they were near you...

Letters describing their thoughts, fears, hopes, and plans. Describing also their daily lives, banal moments, and many things that they didn't need to write, but that are on the paper, next to their revelations, so that they won't feel so exposed when telling you how much they need you.

Romantic love letters can be simple and short, or they can be long, but they are always very sweet. They may have colours and perfume. They may contain a poem. They may be based on humour, suspense or whatever you desire. You can be very creative...

If you don't know how to write one, simply start describing how you feel, and how the objects around you are. Write something like: "I love you all the time. The yellow wall is very empty without your portrait. The cold apartment is very sad without your presence..."

Tell them how the weather reminds you of moments you lived together in the past; talk also about your plans.

Use descriptions all the time. Write about what you see, what you imagine, what you dream of, and everything else you may remember.

Don't write the words "I love you" too often though. Write them only once, and in smaller letters.

Be kind, enigmatic, and loyal. Write things that you would like to read again after a certain period of time. Talk about your frustrations and illusions. Write all your thoughts and philosophical conclusions.
